Proudfoots Home Hardware - New Glasgow’s Home Town Story to be Profiled in National Television Features

New Glasgow, NS, December 1 - Proudfoots Home Hardware - New Glasgow has been chosen to be profiled in a 90-second television feature that will air across Canada on December 5 during CTV's Canada AM as part of Home Hardware's Home Town Stories series profiling the many ways that local Home Hardware Dealers get involved with their communities.

The feature tells the story of how the caring Staff at Proudfoots Home Hardware - New Glasgow helped transform a local boy named Justin Robar's wish into reality. Justin has a medical condition called spina bifida and is dependent on a wheelchair for mobility. His mother Roxanne, a single parent whose top priority is the care of her son, spends a lot of time with Justin in the hospital as he receives treatment.

Jim and Kendall Proudfoot, Dealer Owners of Proudfoots Home Hardware- New Glasgow, were approached by the Sunshine Foundation of Canada to help fulfill Justin's wish for a new NHL-themed bedroom.

While Justin and his mom were treated to a two day mini vacation, the Proudfoots Home Hardware team executed the makeover. With the help of generous contractors, the room was completely redone and made wheelchair accessible. Justin got a new floor, fresh paint, custom cabinetry, a hand crafted goalie headboard, a new mattress and box spring, a remote fan, and a scoreboard mp3 player. Home Hardware also arranged for a famed NHL player to meet Justin when he returned from his trip.

"A strong sense of giving back to the community has long been an unspoken foundation of the company and we are thrilled to have played a role in making Justin's wish come true," said Kendall Proudfoot. "I would like to thank our three dedicated staff: Karri Tibbel, Jenny Proudfoot and Marion Maclean for spearheading this very special project."

Home Hardware Stores Limited has been a community-based business since its inception in 1964, one that encourages its Dealers and staff to build meaningful, long-term relationships with the neighbourhoods they serve. In communities across Canada Home Dealers work hard to ensure that they are making a difference; donating to local charities and initiatives, sponsoring local teams, participating on community councils and volunteering for community clean-up and beautification projects and many other local projects.

The story was selected as one of 20 finalists and a film crew visited the community this summer. The clip can also be viewed online at www.myhometownstory.ca.
